Port Congestion Surcharge Update
We have heard from three carriers so far today (Evergreen, China Shipping, and Yang Ming) that they are postponing the Port Congestion Surcharge again. What precipitated this decision is anyone’s guess. It’s possible that other carriers will follow this decision in the coming days. We are also at this time unclear as to how long these carriers will postpone the Port Congestion Surcharge. For now, think of this as an early Thanksgiving gift. =)

Trucker Availability Shortage
We’re encountering severe driver shortages at the port of Oakland. Some trucking companies have already advised that they are completely booked for the following week to two weeks. With terminal congestion cresting and the holiday shipping season reaching its peak, we ask that importers and exporters be patient, flexible, and understanding. It is truly an incredibly challenging time to find drivers who are available to pick up containers as trucking companies struggle to complete their deliveries.

Thanksgiving Holiday
As we begin our Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to say thank you, on behalf of Great World, to all our partners and friends. There is so much to be thankful for as we take time to celebrate Thanksgiving this year. We wish everyone a joyful and peaceful Thanksgiving holiday. Please note that Great World will be closed for the holiday from Thursday, November 27 through Sunday, November 30th.
