Back on May 28th of this year, the USTR announced potential increases to the Section 301 tariff for cartain products. After a four month commentary period, the USTR has made some modifications. Please read the most recent USTR publication carefully.
1.) The full list of items to received tariff increases is listed on Annex A (starts on page 37). Importers should carefully review this list to see which items may be subject to a Section 301 tariff increase.
Note that there have been some modifications to the increases. For example, medical and surgical gloves of vulcanized rubber, classified under HTS subheading 4015.12.10, originally was scheduled to receive an updated Section 301 tariff of 25%. Under the latest modification, the increase is now to 50% on January 1, 2025 and then to 100% on January 1, 2026.
2.) Please note the “Timing” listed for the Section 301 tariff increase.
