Massive Explosion Near the Port in Tianjin, China

    Tianjin Port Explosion

As many of you may have already heard, there was a massive explosion at a warehouse in the port city Tianjin, China around 10:50pm local time yesterday. There has been a lot of reporting regarding the deadliness of the explosion, which took place at a warehouse that stored dangerous chemicals.

The impact of the explosion destroyed buildings and windows. From what I have read, the death toll has reached at least 50 people as of this morning.

I have already received the following news regarding shipments to and from Tianjin, China.
    – Operations at the Tianjin / Xingang terminal have been stopped until further notice.
    – Chinese Customs has stopped operations at the port
    – Traffic control is being implemented on roads leading to the port.
    – Warehouses and facilities close to the center of the explosion have also been closed.
If you have shipments waiting at the port of Tianjin/Xingang to ship out, I suggest that you contact your shipping partners to determine the status of the product.

If you have shipments that have yet to be delivered to Tianjin/Xingang, you likely will need to find an alternative port to export from.

If you have shipments that are on route to Tianjin/Xingang, the shipment likely will need to be diverted.

We are expecting steamship lines to divert vessels away from the port as the city recovers from the disaster. How long it will take for the city to recover is unknown at this time. Our hearts and prayers go out to those in the city of Tianjin, China. We will send updates as we receive them.
