I wanted to remind everyone that most of China will be shutting down for one week from Thursday, October 1, 2015 through Wednesday, October 7, 2015. This is China’s annual Golden Week / National Day holiday. Most businesses, factories, and government offices will be closed.
It is EXTREMELY important for importers who have freight arriving at U.S. ocean ports these next 10-14 days to make sure they have communicated with their factories in China to release their goods (either through surrendering the bill of lading or by mailing the original bill of lading). Failure to get a release before the October 1st holiday begins will result in cargo not being released until after October 7th. This delay could mean hundreds to thousands of dollars in storage charges per container at the ocean terminals.
Don’t wait to get your shipments released! Contact your factories in China today if you haven’t done so yet.
